Underscoring the conference theme, “Right Here, Right Now,”VMworld Europe in Barcelona last week attracted approximately 8,000 people. Although I was not able to attend this year in Barcelona, I still tried to stay on top of products announcements. VMware announced several new product changes most notably their updated cloud management portfolio. This management offering includes enhancements to the management products in the recently released VMware vCloud Suite, and stand alone tools, plus the newest member of our cloud management solution: vCloud Automation Center. Steve Herrod “Viva Cloud Management!â€blog takes you through VMware’s Cloud Management vision.
Another hot topic was BYOD. Smartphone’s have been gaining popularity over the last couple of years. The “App Store†type marketplace is no longer fiction, it is really here. As discussed in a previous blog, “Why doesn’t my company have an APP Store?â€, IT can no longer dictate what tools to be used in the workforce. So how does one adopt a BYOD strategy? Can companies really provide Desktop as a Service, detach the OS from the underlying infrastructure? Once again, Steve Herrod does a great job demonstrating VMware’s state of the art technology that is transforming IT and enabling the mobile workforce.
